The President of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng has admonished graduands of the 9th Congregation of the University to be trustworthy, stating that it is the only way that the country can be transformed.
“Let people trust you, because we cannot build anything in this country without trust” the President told the graduands.
The President made the appeal on the occasion of the 9th Congregation of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana held on the 5th of December 2015 at Kwahu Abetifi, under the theme “Leaders for Development: The Role of Mission-based Institutions,”
Rev. Prof. E. Adow Obeng disclosed that in line with the College’s motto – Discipline in Leadership – the University is determined to stamp out academic dishonesty as it trains its students to be honest and ethical while exhibiting discipline in leadership.
“The University is in the process to get a situation where the college abolishes invigilation in exams rooms because students are honest, disciplined and dedicated, and therefore will not cheat in exams”, he revealed.
The Presbyterian University College, Ghana continues to make impregnable strides academically as the Nursing students in the Department of Nursing recently won the National Quiz on Buruli Ulcer in Ghana beating giant institutions like University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, University of Development Studies and KNUST.
This comes at the back of series of successes chalked by the University in the year 2015.
The University won the maiden Inter-Private University debate in March; achieved a pass rate of 96.6 percent, the highest among over 100 institutions; and scored 87.8 percent , one of the highest in the country, in the Nursing and Midwifery Council Licensure Exams in February and August respectively.
The President admonished both staff and students of the University to take seriously the institutionalized midweek service as steps to deepening their spiritual heritage.
He said the service serves as a unifying bond between staff and students, enhances the comrade feeling on campus and reinforces our faith in God.
