Unified SRC elects George Asare as President

The Executives of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the various campuses of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) have elected George Asare of Kumasi Campus as the University Unified SRC President for the 2024/2025 Academic year.

Mr. George Asare, a former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player, and a CAF and USSF licensed coach is the current SRC President at the Faculty of Law. He was elected the Unified President at the just ended Leadership and Training Seminar (LTS) held on the Okwahu Campus of the PUG.

As the Unified President, he will represent students at the University Council, which is the highest decision making body of the University and also on the Senate during his tenure of office.

Other officers of the Unified SRC executives are Mr. Presley Owusu Ansah – 1st Vice (Okwahu Campus), Mr. Justice Tetteh Nartey – 2nd Vice (Akuapem Campus), Ms. Christiana Amoafowaa Asare – General Secretary (Okwahu Campus), Mr. Emmanuel Afful – 2nd General Secretary (Asante Akyem Campus), Mr. Nimako Emmanuel Kyei – Financial Secretary (Asante Akyem Campus), Ms. Thelma Nana Akua Fosuhemaa Torkpo – Treasurer (Okwahu Campus), Mr. Kwaku Ankoma-Abrokwa – Public Relations Officer (Kumasi Campus) and Ms. Jennifer Banson – Women’s Commissioner (Asante Akyem Campus)

The Unified SRC works with the SRC management at the various campuses to ensure synchronised activities across board to promote students’ interest.    

Among the topics handled at this year’s LTS were Projecting PUG, Keeping Proper Books of Accounts and Accountability, Servant Leadership, Budgeting, Administrative Structure of the University, and the Information and Technology Systems.

The LTS, is an annual programme organized by the Chaplaincy Unit of the University for all Student Leaders across the five campuses of the University. This year’s seminar which commenced on Friday, 27th September, 2024 and ended on Sunday, 29th September, 2024 was attended by all the student leaders on the various campuses; making it one of the most successful seminars in recent years.
