Rev. Dr. Martin Nabor has been inducted into office as the Assistant Chaplain of the Asante – Akyem Campus of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana at an induction ceremony conducted by the President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng.
Rev. Martin Nabor is a serving Reverend Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana who recently completed serving his full term as the Presbytery Chairperson for Northern Presbytery of the Church.
Delivering the sermon on the theme: “Prepare for the Heavenly City” at the Induction Service, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng charged Rev. Dr. Nabor to help inculcate Christ-Like Qualities in both staff and students of Asante Akyem Campus of the University.
Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng said “you have come here to assist with spiritual development and counseling of the students at Asante Akyem Campus”, emphasizing that “Our University demands that we produce students and people who can control themselves, have commitment, are humble, honest with integrity and above all have Faith in God and allow God to control their lives.”
Recounting some bad practices in the Ghanaian Social fabric such as joining politics to get rich quick, insulting elders in opposing political parties, stealing from public funds, destroying the environment through illegal mining, taking to drinking and drugs in order to become popular among peers, the President challenged the students to stand against these vices for a better future for the country.
Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng posited that it is the University’s responsibility to ensure that none of its students goes astray saying that “We need to prepare them for the heavenly city, by molding them into responsible citizens”.
Rev. Dr. Martin Nabor accepted the appointment as Assistant Chaplain of the Asante Akyem Campus and assured the University community of his readiness to take up the challenge and work to the best of his abilities.
He stated that though the task ahead was challenging, he believes that God has sent him to assist the University realize its vision of training the HEART, HEAD and HANDS of its students.
Notwithstanding, he asked for the prayers and support from the University Community as he believes that is the only way he would succeed with his mandate.
Rev. Dr. Nabor was supported in his induction service by his wife and children, family relations, friends and some senior members from the University.
Also present at the induction service were the Asante Akyem Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. K. Twum Barimah, the clerk of Presbytery, Rev. E. Asante – Kwarteng, the Ag. Chaplain of PUCG, the Vice President, Registrar, Dean of Students, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, Assistant Registrar Corporate Affairs, and Faculty and Staff members from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
