The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) marked a significant milestone as it held its 22nd matriculation ceremony on March 14th and 15th, 2025, at its Okwahu and Akuapem campuses. The occasion, filled with anticipation and promise, ushered in 1,830 fresh students, officially welcoming them into the esteemed academic community.
The ceremony held on both campuses matriculated students from the School of Business, the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Development Studies

Address by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Ofosu-Anim

Addressing the new students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Ofosu-Anim emphasized that matriculation was more than a mere formality—it was a rite of passage, signifying their entry into a world of academic rigor, personal growth, and intellectual discovery.
He continued that, “This occasion marks the beginning of a transformative journey for each and every one of you. Today is not just about enrollment; it is about embracing the responsibilities and opportunities that come with being a part of this academic community.”

The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to strive for excellence in their respective fields, whether science, technology, business, or the humanities. He stressed the importance of critical thinking, ethical conduct, and adaptability in today’s fast-evolving world.

Prof. Ofosu-Anim further advised that, “Our institution has a rich history of fostering intellectual curiosity and producing individuals who have gone on to make significant contributions to their respective fields. Carry the torch of curiosity forward and let the Presbyterian discipline guide you toward greatness.”
Beyond academics, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to actively engage in campus life, participating in extracurricular activities, networking with peers, and embracing the full university experience.

He however warned against the perils of negative peer pressure and urged students to uphold the institution’s core values of Excellence, Commitment, Integrity, Discipline, and Faith in God.

While challenges would inevitably arise, the Vice-Chancellor assured students that these hurdles were stepping stones to growth and success. He urged them not to shy away from stepping outside their comfort zone, and said that it is through challenges that they will learn, evolve, and emerge stronger.
In his closing remarks, he congratulated the new students and encouraged them to make the most of their time at PUG—not just in academic achievements but also in the relationships they build and the impact they make.

Subsequent matriculation ceremonies will be held on March 21st and 26th, 2025, at the Kumasi and Asante Akyem campuses, respectively. This will be for the Faculty of Law, the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
