The Presbyterian University College, Ghana has been crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Inter-Private University debate (IPUD) competition. PUCG recorded this feat after putting up an impressive showing in a pulsating contest with Ashesi University College in the epic grand finale on 20th March, 2015.
The debating competition which was segmented into Northern and Southern belts saw PUCG in erudite fashion edged out their contemporaries from the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (UCAES) -Bonsu, All Nations University College- Koforidua, Christian Service University College – Kumasi before setting up the duel with Ashesi University College -Accra, winners of the Southern belt.
Charlene Arday, Principal speaker, and Kelvin Afrane, supporting speaker for PUCG, exhibited their debating adroitness speaking for the motion “Government policies on expenditure promote effective infrastructure development”. Onokwai Chukwudi and Naa Dei Kotei Sass assisted the team with research.
The competition was organised by TP CONSULT with support from Rock Radio and the Private Universities Students’ Association (PUSAG).
The Northern belt included, Presbyterian University College,Ghana, All Nations University College, Spiritan University College, Catholic University College, Pan African University College, Christian Service University College and Ghana Baptist University College.
Ashesi University College, Central University College, Valley View University, Zenith University College, Kings University College, Islamic University College, Radford University College and Knustford University College made up the Sothern belt.
The Dean of Student Affairs on behalf of management thanked the team for making PUCG proud when he was presented with the trophy.
