The Academic and relevant Staff of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) have been trained in the use of the Online Student Information System (OSIS) as the University aligns itself to modern best practices in Student Records Management. The institution has accordingly subscribed to the Online Student Information System (OSIS).
A 3-day Residential Orientation Workshop held from 24th May to 26th May, 2016 brought together Academic Staff from the Tema, Akuapem, Asante Akyem Campuses of the University.
OSIS is a system that harnesses the power of the Internet/Intranet to provide end-users (students, lecturers and administrators) with online facilities that can track student records that cover the process from Application for Admission, through Registration and Performance at Examinations to Graduation from the University.
Others are Alumni Information Management and Student Finance Payment Solution (Transflow) Module integrated into OSIS that connects the banks to the institution seamlessly.
Opening the Workshop, the Vice President, Professor Frank S. Arku said that for PUCG to compete favourably as an institution of higher learning in this fast changing time, there is the need to introduce the academic staff to the new Student Information System and to train them on how to effectively process student examination results using OSIS.
Prof. Frank Arku therefore implored the participants to take the workshop seriously as it sought to provide practical and hands-on Training to cover Accessing Score Sheets, setting up of Assessment and Grading Schemes, Scores Entry, submission of Score Sheets, Adjustments of Scores, Approval of Submitted Results, etc.
Currently, about 1,160 students (mainly level 100 and 200 students) have been migrated unto OSIS. It is the expectation of Management that from the beginning of the 2016/2017 academic year, all students except those in Level 400 would be on OSIS, reducing the current challenges facing the University in managing student records.
