The staff and students of Presbyterian University College, Ghana have donated clothing to some deprived children in the Abetifi Kwahu community in the Kwahu East District.
The presentation was made at a programme organized by a student, Prince Femi Jackson with his friends and with support from the staff of the University to educate the children about the relevance of education to the child.
The over a hundred children who participated in the programme were accompanied by their parents or guardians. This led to fruitful discussions concerning the education of the children.
Addressing the children, the Dean of Students, Mr. Odei Bempong admonished them to take all issues pertaining to their education seriously and not waste their time loitering in the community.
He asked the parents of the children to take advantage of many of opportunities the University offers in order to give their wards the best education possible and not have them drop out of school.
Nana Yeboah Bomodu III, the Anantahene of Abetifi expressed deep appreciation and satisfaction for the gesture towards meeting the needs of the children of the community and also exposing them to educational opportunities available to them.
He echoed the sentiments of the Dean of students that parents and guardians play key roles in the education of their wards and implored them not to shirk that responsibility.
The gathering praised the University for the gesture and asked that more of such activities be carried out in the community and other localities in the catchment areas of the University campuses
