The Presbyterian University College, Ghana has held its 7th annual staff retreat on the theme “PUCG’s Visibility and the Light of the Spirit”, at the Ramseyer Training Centre at Abetifi Kwahu, from 29th to 30th August 2015.
The retreat which is organized to close the academic year and also usher in the new academic year brings together both the junior and senior staff in all the campuses of the University to seek the face of God and His direction for the ensuing year.
The retreat is also used to asses both the administrative and academic work output of the University for the closing academic year and take pragmatic decisions to address concerns for a better performance in the new academic year.
The topics handled at the two-day retreat were the Visibility of PUCG: The place of Christian Spirituality in the Academia; the Visibility of PUCG: Quality Service Delivery in His Light among others.
Speaking on the theme “The Visibility of PUCG: The place of Christian Spirituality in the Academia”, the President of PUCG, Rev Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, said the retreat was to help the staff renew their Spirit, seek God’s guidance, and pray and seek the direction of God so that the University could do better in the 2015/2016 academic year.
While calling on Deans and Heads of Department to be proactive, the President implored all staff to toughen themselves for the task ahead if the University is to achieve its vision.
He disclosed that the University, starting in the 2015/2016 academic year, will enforce the Dress Code for both staff and students in a polite manner devoid of confrontation.
Professor Frank Arku, the Vice President of PUCG, said Quality Service Delivery can be achieved only through team work, love, punctuality, meeting deadlines and timely evaluation, when he spoke on The Visibility of PUCG: Quality Service Delivery in His Light.
Professor Arku cautioned against attitudes that have the tendency to create bad image for the institution and derail the successes chalked in service delivery.
In his welcome address Mr. K. Amo Osei, the Registrar, entreated participants to work assiduously and make the University Christ centered at all levels and use the retreat to bring about positive change in the University.
The two-day retreat ended with a Covenant Service on Sunday for the staff which was joined by the preliminary programme students at the Okwahu Campus.
