The Okwahu Campus of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) has held its Carol Service to climax formal activities of the Chaplaincy for the First Semester of the 2018/2019 Academic Year.
Five choirs from some selected Senior High Schools on the Kwahu Ridge performed on the night alongside the University Choir (Okwahu Campus). The choirs were from St. Peters Senior High School, St. Dominics Senior High/Technical School, Nkwatia Senior High School, Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High School and Abetifi Technical Institute. Abetifi Vocational Training Institute was in attendance.
The PUCG held the Carol Service with the second cycle schools around the catchment areas in order to foster relations that impact the academic, social and spiritual lives in these schools.
In his exhortation, Rev. Gideon Poplampu , the Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, implored the gathering to proclaim to others the Good News about the Salvation of Jesus Christ to mankind.
Reading from Matthew2:1-12, Rev. Gideon Poplampu said all who hear the Good News of Salvation must learn from the three wise men who visited and worshiped Jesus at His birth and share the news with others.
The RTC Director believes in this way the celebration of the birth of Jesus will become relevant to the world and the Christian community.
Addressing the gathering, the President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng thanked all the schools which participated in the service and all the guests who graced the occasion.
The President admonished the schools within the catchment areas of the University Campuses to take advantage and enroll on programmes and certificate courses to upgrade themselves.
In attendance were the Vice President, Prof. Frank S. Arku; Registrar, Mrs. Mary A. Agyepong; Chaplain, Rev. Dr. E. Y. Blasu; Director of Finance, Mr. John Adarkwah, Dean of Students, Dr. John Adu Kumi; wife of PUCG President, Mrs. Rosilta Adow Obeng and staff of PUCG.
The rest were there presentatives of the Queen mother of Kwahu-Abetifi, the DCE of Kwahu East and the Directress of Education – Kwahu East; and staff of participating schools.
