The Presbyterian University College, Ghana has held its 2015 Matriculation at the Asante Akyem (Agogo) Campus on the 14th of November, 2015.The Matriculation is a ritual carried out annually, to admit fresh students into the University.
In his address, the President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng told the fresh students that after taking the Matriculation oath, they become “Students in statu popillari of the University with all rights and privileges that go with their studentship”.
This year’s Matriculation saw the University admit over 700 students to its various programmes with about 43 percent female representation as against 57 percent male representation.
The University is expected to increase its student intake in 2016/2017 academic year with the possible introduction of new programmes.
Rev. Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng pledged the University’s readiness to deliver a well trained product to the waiting world stating that the University is concerned about the safety, welfare, academic growth and general turnout of the students while they are in the charge of the University.
According to him, the “Country expects the University to turn out products who are professionals, knowledgeable, creative, critical thinkers, analytical, innovative, proactive and disciplined; and products who will be the moral pillars of progress in this country”.
While acknowledging the students for making an informed choice to study at PUCG, the President urged the students to report anything that has the tendency of derailing their success at the University as members of staff of the University are there to ensure they succeed.
The President, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng announced the setting up of the Centre for International Education to cater for the welfare of international students.
The University’s aim is to expose the international students not only to academic work, but also to the rich culture, important place, and also people of Ghana.

The students were reminded that PUCG is a Christian university that offers opportunity to staff and students to deepen their spiritual heritage, hence take advantage of worship services organized on the campuses by the Chaplaincy and Life Values Promotion Centre to reinforce their faith in God.
