The Information Technology (ICT) Unit of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) has organised a two-month free Information Technology (IT) training for the 2019 Senior High School (SHS) graduates.
The IT training, run at the Okwahu Campus (Abetifi Kwahu) of the University registered 113 participants from about 40 different SHS across the country.
The participants were exposed to topics in Introduction to Information Technology, Word Processing, Database using MS. Access, Presentation Skills, Living Online (Using the Internet), and Introduction to Website Design.
The IT training was organized for the SHS graduates in fulfillment of the University’s quest to support the development of human resource in the local communities.
Again, the free IT training was aimed at engaging the graduates while they awaited their results so that they could upgrade their IT skills for the various opportunities available, which includes employment.
The Registrar of PUCG, Mary Abena Agyepong (Mrs) who addressed the trainees said ICT drives the world’s economy now. Therefore adequate knowledge in ICT is important for any student or individual who wants to make impact with his creativity and innovative abilities.
She encouraged them to consciously give themselves to study while they go through the two-month training. She also implored them to observe, listen, ask questions, network and enjoy their stay in the University.
The IT training is being spearheaded by the IT Unit of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana with Mr. David Adamah as Head of the Unit and Mr. Samuel Nyarko and Raymond Commodore as technical staff.
