The Governing Council of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) has appointed Professor John Ofosu-Anim as the Vice-Chancellor of the University, effective 1st August, 2023.
Until his appointment, Prof Ofosu-Anim who holds MSc in Agriculture and PhD in Agronomy from Kagawa University and Nagoya University in Japan, respectively held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor at the Central University.
He takes over from Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu who completed his term of office after his appointment to the position in 2021 as the 3rd President of the University.

Prof Oduro Owusu led the University to obtain the Presidential Charter in the year 2022 to become a full-fledged private university after initial work by his predecessors Prof Sraku Lartey and Rev Prof Emmanuel Adow Obeng.

BRIEF PROFILE
John Ofosu-Anim B.Sc (UG), M.Sc (Kagawa University), Ph.D (Nagoya University)
Professor John Ofosu-Anim joined the University of Ghana (UG) in 1996 after obtaining his MSc in Agriculture and PhD in Agronomy from Kagawa University and Nagoya University in Japan, respectively.
He is a scientist with considerable international experience and outstanding administrative skills. He rose from the rank of Lecturer to a Professor through quality teaching, research, extension and internationally acclaimed scholarship.
Professor Ofosu-Anim has taught a range of courses at the tertiary education level in Ghana and trained several undergraduate and graduate students. He is currently the Vice Chancellor, Presbyterian University, Ghana. Before his appointment as Vice Chancellor, he served the positions of Pro Vice-Chancellor and briefly as Dean, School of Architecture and Science at Central University.
Prior to his employment by Central University, Professor Ofosu-Anim was the Dean, School of Agriculture, University of Ghana and also held a number of administrative positions including serving several times as Acting Provost, College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Head of Department of Crop Science, and Vice-Dean of the School of Agriculture.
Professor Ofosu-Anim also served on all relevant committees at University of Ghana including the Business and Executive Committee, Collegiate Restructuring Committee, Academic Board, Board of Graduate Studies, Tender Board, Procurement Board, Ghana University Staff Superannuation Scheme Management Board, Security Committee, and Academic Curriculum Quality and Staff Development Committee.
Others are University Examinations Superintending Committee, Board of College of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences, Board of School of Agriculture, and Chairman of Inter-Faculty Appointment Review Committee ( IFARC). He served as Secretary and President of UTAG, Mensah Sarbah Hall Tutor and represented academic staff on the University of Ghana Council. At Central University, he served on all relevant committees.
Professor Ofosu-Anim has also served as a member of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana’s Research Grade Staff promotions committee. He is a member of the Legacy Sub-Committee of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 13th All African Games, 2023 to be hosted in Ghana.
He has co-authored Ghana Education Service Approved Standard Textbooks for the Teaching of Agriculture Science in Junior Secondary Schools.
Professor Ofosu-Anim has attracted funds for research and facilitated the establishment of links with some universities abroad which have opened opportunities for MPhil/PhD placements for Ghanaian students in world-class universities.
He has also served as a Guest Associate Professor of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. He was a member of Board of Regents of Daniel Institute, Central University.
Over the past years, Professor Ofosu-Anim has been an active member of Out-reach Teams of University of Ghana and has lead a team from Central University to explain their admissions policies and processes to Senior High School students in Ghana. He has tenacity of purpose and is passionate about being successful in his endeavours.
