The President of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, has held his first meeting with the Alumni Association of the University since taking over as the President of PUCG in December 2014.
The meeting which was held at Abetifi Kwahu, where the main campus is located, was at the instance of the President.
The main objective of the meeting was to deliberate on how PUCG Alumni can build an effective organization to support the University’s vision of becoming a world-acclaimed University and a Centre of Excellence.
In his address Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng thanked the gathering for responding to his call but bemoaned the current state of the PUCG Alumni Association, describing it as loosely organized and ineffective.
The President pledged the unflinching support of the Management of PUCG to making the Alumni Association an effective and responsive organization to drive vision of the University.
He therefore charged all Alumni to work hard towards forming a vibrant Association that can leverage support for the University in diverse ways.
Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng underscored the critical role the Alumni Association can play in the University’s development agenda and called all Alumni to be part of the efforts at achieving the tenets of the development agenda of PUCG.
The Interim President of the PUCG Alumni Association, Mr. Bernard Ntiamoah, outlined the organizational challenges facing the Association and strategies mapped-out to make the Alumni Association more effective.
The President of PUCG, Rev Prof Adow Obeng led the members of the Association who attended the meeting to discuss issues affecting the Alumni and how to move it forward.
The discussions centered on strategies for the formation of effective Regional Alumni Groupings of the Association and how the National Association would effectively work in tandem with the Regional Associations until a substantive Executive Committee is properly elected to take over the administration of the Association.
In attendance were the Vice President, the Registrar, the Dean of Students, the University Chaplain, the Public Relations Officer as well as Deans of Faculty and other Officials.
