The executives of the Alumni Association of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) had a meeting with the President of the University, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu at his office at the Okwahu Campus.
Welcoming the executives, the President, Prof. Oduro Owusu thanked them for the visit and said their meeting was critical because the Alumni of the University has a crucial role to play in the success story of the institution.
Prof. Oduro Owusu noted that there were some challenges facing the University but assured the Alumni that these challenges would be dealt with urgently to ensure that staff and students operate in an enabling environment.
He implored the Alumni to support the University’s admissions drive, engage freshers during orientations, engage continuing students to help them with some of their challenges and identify critical projects to carry them out.
The President also challenged the Alumni to institute Alumni Lectures to discuss important issues in society as a catalyst to improve the University’s visibility.
He requested members of the Alumni Association with requisite qualification to consider taking up appointments at the University either as full time or part-time, stating that the institution is introducing a policy where the various Departments would identify good students suitable for positions to be sponsored for further studies after their national service.
He said, those students would be groomed to take up positions in the University and help build it to become a world acclaimed centre for academic excellence.
Prof. Oduro Owusu asked the Alumni Association to support him and his Management in their quest to reposition the University to truly espouse the Presbyterian Philosophy of education.

Congratulating the President on his appointment, the President of the Alumni Association, Mrs. Anita Amoako-Gyimah said his leadership dynamism is needed to transform the University into a centre of academic excellence.
She assured the President to count on the support of the Alumni Association in his administration stating that the Alumni Association is already supporting the construction of the Premier hostel at the Okwahu Campus.
She disclosed that the Association has taken steps to re-roof the lectures halls of the Akuapem Campus and indicated that the project would be completed soon.
The Alumni President informed the President of PUCG that the Association already has been engaging the freshers, and the continuing students in Thesis Support Project, which would also be implemented at the Graduate level.
She said the Alumni Association is going to organize a fundraising ceremony at the Okwahu Campus this year to support critical projects of the University.
She intimated that Alumni Association would strongly consider suggestions by the President on PUCG visibility activities, and qualified Alumni Members taking appointments at the University and engage Management on that.
The Vice President of PUCG, Prof. Frank S. Arku thanked the Alumni for their interest and hard work to see the University flourish.
He assured them that they could count on the support of the President and Management for all their activities imploring them to regularly engage Management to acquaint themselves with progress of the University.
The President, Prof. Oduro Owusu expressed his gratitude to the Executives of the Alumni Association for undertaking various projects in the University and requested that they should work together to deepen the collaboration between the two entities for the good of PUCG.
He promised to set up an Alumni office at the Okwahu Campus and appoint Alumni Relations Officer to promote Alumni relations activities on the various campuses.
Present also at the meeting were the Vice President and the Secretary of the Alumni Association, Mr. James Aggrey and Mr. David Martey Nmetteh, respectively.
