The Student Associations of the Okwahu Campus of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana, spearheaded by the Department of Business Administration and Economics have organized a Business and Economics Quiz Competition for some selected Senior High Schools on the Kwahu Ridge.
St. Peters Senior High School won the four-round competition with 58 points. Nkwatia Senior High and Commercial School, and Abetifi Presbyterian Senior School were 1st and 2nd runner ups respectively with 46 and 42 points.
The various Students Associations which helped organize the Quiz Competition were BASA, ABES, ISA and ICT-USA.
The Competition was organized as part of this year’s Association Week Celebration to foster closer ties among Senior High Schools in the catchment area of the University; promote closer relationships between the University and Senior High Schools in the area; create a healthy academic competition among students offering Business; and offer an avenue to prepare final year students for the final WASSCE.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of School of Business and Economics, Mr. Ebenezer Agyeman Badu commended the participated schools about their preparation and commitment that ensured the success of the programme.
He disclosed that the Department plans to extend the Business and Economics quiz to cover the Eastern Region and the country as a whole in the near future. He believes that this would make the study of Business and Economics attractive at both the Senior High School and the Tertiary levels.
The tutors of the participating schools shared similar views as they expressed the delight about the organisation of the competition and encouraged the University to extend the competition to the national level.
The students who contested for their schools also expressed their joy for being part of the maiden completion. They agreed that the competition has set the tone for them to prepare well towards their final examination.
They were of the opinion that extending it to the national level will help the study of business and economics in the Senior High Schools.
Mr. Eugene Akoto Bamfo, the Morning Show host of an Nkawkaw based radio station Agoo FM was the quiz master.
