Professor Frank S. Arku, the Vice President of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana, has implored the Deans and Heads of Department of the University to work hard to make the University the preferred choice for higher education for parents and prospective students.
He made the appeal at the opening of a two-day orientation workshop for Deans and HoDs held at the Okwahu Campus as part of the series of Staff Development and Training programme aimed at improving the competencies of both the administrative and academic staff for effective and efficient execution of institutional mandate.
Speaking on the theme “Achieving effectiveness and efficiency: the role of the Dean and Head of Department”, Professor Frank Arku said the Deans and HoDs are key to improving the standards at PUCG and make it one of the best in the sub-region.
He pleaded with the Deans and HoDs not to relent on efforts to review programmes run by the University as well as developing new programmes in response to the economic needs of the country and the African Sub-region.
The facilitators, Dr. E. O Agyenim Boateng, Mr. Prince Ofori and Mr. Erasmus P. A. Quartey took the participants through topics such as Deans and HoDs as: Academic Leader; Human Resource Manager; Procurement Manager; and Director of Finance.
Others were Professional and Personal Development, Conflict Management and Succession Planning.
