The President of Presbyterian University College, Ghana, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng has encouraged the staff and students of the school to have faith in God and hope in life in spite of difficulties stating that “In every act of God there is a hidden blessing”.
Preaching on the theme “There is hope for the future” at the first Family and Covenant Service for the 2015/2016 Academic year, held at the Okwahu Campus on 4th October, the President said “If we believe that God is our spiritual foundation, we will not lose hope”.
“Hope is expectation of a future good. It is one of the greatest Christian virtues according to 1 Corinthians 13:13” he explained and stressed that “Hope is our spiritual assurance”.
The Family Service is held once in a month during the regular semesters and it is aimed at bringing the staff and their families, and the students to worship together, building a sense of fellowship and bonding. It is consummated with the Lord’s Supper.
Preaching from Matthew 11:7-9, the President said those who are fickle-minded are unable to achieve anything on their own and waste their God given talent.
He stated that it will take hard work for Staff and Students to succeed while we all remain focused and set our priorities right, noting that “God’s promises are sure and good”.
Rev. Prof Adow Obeng emphasised that the purpose of the University is to make Students and Staff disciplined in the discharge of their institutional and individual mandate.
To achieve this, the President said Righteousness shall be the hallmark of the University and uncleanness shall be a thing of the past.
He admonished the Staff and Students not to lose hope in the face of hardships in life.
