The President of the Presbyterian University College-Ghana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng has charged leavers to go out there and shine to make a difference that will make PUCG proud.
He opined that the University expects its students to espouse essential skill sets in all their endeavours. “We expect you to be critical and analytical, go out there and shine, make something out of yourself and make all of us proud” he stated.
This was contained in a sermon delivered by the President at the Commendation Service for Leavers. The Service was on the theme “Maintaining the Unity of the Body of Christ”. He called on all to have honourable motives in whatever they do and also cautioned leavers to be wary of people promising goodies. “Selfishness, Authority and Power deprive us of the unity that Christ prayed for His followers” he posited.
The Service which marked the last Family Service for the 2015/2016 academic year was heavily attended by both senior and junior members of the University. Also present were the Acting Chaplain, the Dean of Students and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The Leavers who could not hide their joy virtually made the auditorium too small to contain their intricate dance moves in glorification of God for seeing them through 4 years of learning at PUCG. The Acting Chaplain led special prayers for the leavers.
Also, as part of the service, the Dean of Students sworn into office the elected President of the Students’ Representative Council in the person of Raynolds Anim Lartey for the 2016/2017 academic year. The swearing in of other officers was to be done at the office of the President in due course.
There was also a brief handing over ceremony for all student groups on campus.
