Bryan Acheampong Foundation Gives Scholarship Worth Over GH₵400,000

The Bryan Acheampong Foundation (BAF) has offered 70 students reading Master of Education in Educational Studies full scholarship covering their tuition fees for the duration of the programme.

Hon. Bryan Acheampong, who is the Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency and also the Minister of State in charge of National Security, presented a cheque covering the tuition fees to the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) at its Okwahu Campus.  

The President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng received the cheque on behalf of the University and commended the Bryan Acheampong Foundation (BAF) for the intervention.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Bryan Acheampong said he is committed to providing support to education in the constituency including offering 1000 students scholarship to pursue undergraduate programmes at the Presbyterian University College, Ghana.  

Hon. Bryan Acheampong who is also the C.E.O. of BAF explained that he was inspired to set up the Foundation to provide community support services especially in education so that people have the opportunity to access quality education.

The Member of Parliament praised the Presbyterian discipline and implored the beneficiaries to imbibe those set of Presbyterian values to help them impact meaningfully the lives of their students and pupils. He also admonished them to stay in the constituency after their study to help improve the standards of education in the Kwahu area.

The President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng on his part commended highly Hon Bryan Acheampong and his Foundation saying the “MP has invested well in these scholarships and the returns will be great for the community and the country.”

Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng was happy that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s (PCG) aim for setting up the University in semi urban areas to propel socio-economic development in these areas so as to lift the standards of living of the people has been boosted by the Bryan Acheampong Foundation’s intervention which is in agreement with this vision of PCG.  

The President of PUCG disclosed that it is also important to note that the MEd. Educational Studies is specially designed to build in students the ability to critique, reflect and analyze educational issues, provide in depth knowledge in curriculum and pedagogical issues relating to their subject areas.

He mentioned that the students would conduct and write research paper which is weighted six credit hours. According to Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng, the research equips them with skills to incorporate research into preparation of teaching notes for classes and keep them abreast of best practices in the education system in the country.

Rev. Prof. Adow Obeng commended the Bryan Acheampong Foundation and the Kwahu East District Education Directorate for transparent processes of selecting the beneficiaries which he describes as “fair” and without political “colorations”.

He implored the beneficiaries to stay in the constituency after their education and help improve the standards of education in the Kwahu area as a reciprocal gesture to the Foundation. 

The 70 beneficiaries are teachers within the Kwahu East Education Directorate who have taught for continuous 10 years or more in the District.
