The President of the Presbyterian University College-Ghana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng has called on members of the University fraternity to exude maturity in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.
He strongly believes that the manifestation of such maturity in the lives of the members will invariably translate into the nature of the university. “As Christians wherever we find ourselves it must show, this must therefore translate into the life of the University,” he opined.
The President sounded this clarion call in his address at the first family service of the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year at the Okwahu campus. The service which is organized by the Chaplaincy and Life Values Promotion centre is to bring all members of the university together in worship. Present at the service were the Dean of Students, faculty Members, and some Senior and Junior staff Members. The University Chaplain, Rev. E. Y Blasu, preached the sermon on the theme “Christ our example”.
The President, taking inspiration from Hebrews 6:1-3, advised both senior and junior members of the university to grow onto maturity. “Growth is a natural phenomenon and God expects us to grow. Our University is not just growing but maturing” he intimated.
He further challenged staff and Student leaders to use their positions to work assiduously to bring innovation in the way of doing things in the University. He also cautioned all to eschew all behaviours that smacks of indiscipline.
The president entreated all and sundry to move away from the basics since it is the triumph card for growing into maturity.
Also, as part of the service, the Dean of Students affairs inaugurated the newly elected General Assembly of the Students’ Representative Council. The General Assembly represents the unification of all the campuses of the University on the student front. The inaugurated executives were; Emma L. Brown Jnr (President), Emmanuel Osafo( 1st Vice president), Eric Amankwa( 2nd Vice President), Cynthia Boafo Agyiri (General Secretary), Nana Akua Asomaning (1st Deputy Secretary), Prince Femi Jackson (2nd Deputy Secretary), Tony Asamoah (Financial Secretary), Naa Dei Kotei Sass(Treasurer) and Daniel Odam Botchway (PRO)
